A Small Lie

I never expected myself to be excited about lying to my partner, especially over something so small. But when I told him that I got a promotion at the part-time job I quit months ago because of grad school stress, the thrill was intense. It felt like an unexpected rush of adrenaline to make up such a trivial lie just for the momentary joy of it. Now every time he brings it up, I feel guilty but also a little naughty.
