She Doesn't Want Kids but I Do, What Now?

So here's the deal. Me and Kate have been dating casually for a year now, nothing serious, but there's definitely something more there when we're both in the mood. We've had some wild nights together, I mean, really wild stuff that left us giggling and red-faced at sunrise. But it came out recently that while I'm all about starting a family down the line, Kate just isn't feeling it anytime soon. In fact, she told me pretty flatly last week that she doesn't want kids at all. For me, this is big news since I've always assumed having kids someday would be on our radar. We tried to talk it through, but it's hard when one person wants the future and the other prefers the present. Kate says she's happy with how things are now, and honestly? So am I. We're both living comfortably, not stressing about a mortgage or anything major like that yet. But here’s where it gets tricky: I don't want to let go of this idea just because we've hit a rough patch in our understanding. And Kate isn’t backing down either, she says kids are too much responsibility for what she sees as unnecessary emotional labor and logistical headaches. I find myself asking her if there's anything else that bothers her about the idea of us eventually getting more serious. She hasn't come up with a solid answer, so I'm left scratching my head, wondering how to proceed without pushing her away or sacrificing my own dreams for family. In all honesty, it’s not like I want kids tomorrow, but talking about having them someday makes me feel secure and hopeful about our future together. It's been gnawing at the back of my mind since she brought it up, making me question where we stand and if there's a way forward that satisfies both of us.
