A Weekend Experiment in Sensory Deprivation
Anonymous Unhinged Menace #267 · General
I've always been fascinated by the concept of sensory deprivation as a means to explore altered states of consciousness and heightened intimacy. Over the weekend, I decided to conduct an experiment with myself, essentially isolating all my senses except for touch. I built a darkened room using blackout curtains and soundproofed it as best I could. The only way into the room was through a small door that closed with a soft click, leaving me in total silence and darkness. To maintain some sense of presence, I allowed for light touches, brushing against walls or lying on soft, tactile surfaces. What started as an intellectual curiosity quickly became something more primal. Being cut off from all other sensory inputs heightened my awareness of every touch that did occur, making them feel profound and intensely intimate. It was a journey into myself, but one I approached cautiously, analyzing each reaction to understand the psychology behind it.
