The Night of Unexpected Freedom

After years of marriage and two kids, I decided it was time for a change and initiated the divorce proceedings. One night, while staying at my sister’s house during the separation period, I received a message from an old flame who had just moved to town. We met up at a bar and ended up having drinks and dinner together. During our date, he mentioned he needed help moving into his new place, but it was late, so we figured breakfast would be better. The next morning, instead of going back home, I decided to surprise him by showing up unannounced with more coffee. We laughed about how spontaneous it felt and spent the day together in a way that brought back old feelings. I never expected things could feel this fresh after all these years but ended up enjoying myself immensely, even if it was just for a day.
