a summer fling with a student

i've been teaching for decades but last year something changed when a new student joined my class. she was a brilliant young woman in her twenties, eager to learn and curious about everything. there came a point where i found myself thinking about her all the time, imagining us together behind closed doors during office hours. it wasn't anything we acted on or talked about, she had no idea what was going through my head, but it consumed me for weeks. i'm confessing this not because i need forgiveness or advice, just to admit that even with years of experience and strict ethical lines, desire can still find a way.
