A Small Lie at Work

Anonymous Feral Heathen #166 · General

I recently made a small mistake and had to lie about it. It was nothing big, a patient I was supposed to give medication to left the ward before I could, but when asked if I’d administered it, I said yes. The meds weren’t life-critical, so there wasn’t real danger, just inconvenience for another nurse having to catch up later. What bothered me most wasn’t that I lied; it’s rare enough in my profession for a reason. It was the guilt over wasting their time when they could be tending to someone else who needed help more than this patient did. Of course, I didn’t tell them about the lie because doing so would only complicate things further and bring attention to myself that I wasn't seeking, just another day at the office for me, but it's still weighing on my mind.
