The Time I Took More Than My Share

This is really just a small story from college but one that sticks with me for reasons I can't quite pin down. We had this group project and my roommate was always so meticulous about getting it right, never leaving anything to chance. One night he left his laptop unattended in our dorm room while at the library studying late. Without thinking too much, I just took a quick glance at some of his notes, there were tips on better writing style that I felt sure would help me. It was wrong and petty of course, but the way it made me feel like I'd found an edge over him has haunted my conscience since. We're still friends now, both married with kids, but sometimes I wonder what he thinks when we look back on those college days.
