So here I am, this supposed pillar of healthcare professionalism, standing in front of my own morality board. Yeah, you heard right, me, the guy who gives lectures on patient-doctor boundaries and ethics guidelines for a living. Got caught with my proverbial pants down last week during an office visit that went way off the rails. Patient came in complaining about... well, let's just say it was a sexually transmitted infection she thought I could fix without her seeing another specialist. She's attractive, there’s no denying it, a mix of innocence and something more mature that’s hard to ignore when you’re sitting across from someone who thinks they need medical help but ends up offering you some sort of therapy themselves... Long story short, we ended up getting a bit too chummy in the exam room. Not the kind of physical contact I mean, I swear there was no touching involved beyond standard care, but emotionally and verbally... it was like stepping into an alternate reality where professionalism went out the window. Afterwards, I couldn't stop thinking about it, about crossing that line between doctor and patient, about blurring those edges so casually. Did she ask for more than a prescription? Not really, but there was something in her eyes... This isn’t me looking for sympathy or an excuse. It’s just admitting to myself what I already know, that sometimes even the most rational minds can fall into irrational patterns.
