Caught Off Guard At Work

Working the late shift has its perks and downsides. I’ve been with my partner for years now, so it’s not like sneaking around is new to us, but tonight felt different. We were in an empty storeroom, supposed to be just checking inventory. Then he looked at me differently, and before I knew it... well, you can guess the rest. It was quick, but intense. And now every time someone walks by that room, my heart starts racing. What if they saw something? More than once, I’ve caught myself expecting a lecture or worse, but nothing ever comes. Is that better? Knowing I could have gotten fired for what we did and not even facing the consequences? I keep thinking about how close it was, and whether it really was just because no one walked by.
