A Coffee Spill Lie

I lied to my spouse about a coffee spill at work. It wasn't even that big of a deal, just a small puddle on the floor behind the counter where I was supposed to clean up right away. But I got busy, and it sat there for too long before I remembered and cleaned it up. Instead of admitting it, I pretended nothing happened and said it must have been another barista who caused a spill earlier in my shift. The truth is, I felt embarrassed by being so careless and didn't want to face the consequences or even a simple apology from me. Now I feel guilty because if anyone got hurt, though nobody did, it would've been on me for not taking care of it immediately.
