Caught My Partner with Her Ex Boyfriend During Our Engagement Party

I met her four years ago and we've been together ever since. Got engaged a few months back after our families were all cool about it. I thought everything was perfect, but last weekend at my engagement party, I saw something that just made me question the whole thing. Her ex boyfriend, whom she dated for three years before us, showed up uninvited. He had always seemed like a creep to me, and he's got this vibe about him where you can tell he never really moved on. Anyway, they spent most of the night talking in a corner, and I was starting to get worried. Later, when everyone else was busy dancing or chatting, they disappeared for what felt like ages. I tried to ignore it but couldn't help myself, I went searching through the house and found them making out in an upstairs room. It looked like they were about to take things further too. She's always been upfront with me that she cares a lot about her ex, so I guess I shouldn't have been shocked. But watching it happen right there made me feel sick, seeing her kiss him back, feeling his hands on her body as if he owned her still. I didn’t stop them though, just walked away quietly and sat in the living room alone for a while, trying to sort my feelings out. I felt like a fool, I was ready to plan a wedding but here she was showing clear signs that there’s no way this will work with me. When they finally came back downstairs, I confronted her. She said it didn’t mean anything and that she still loves me more than anyone else. But watching them together made all the doubts flood back into my head, is any of what we have real? Last night, after everyone had left for home, we were alone in bed together. And she did something that sealed it for me, as we got closer to each other, I felt her body tense up before relaxing into his memory rather than mine. It’s hard now, knowing that no matter how much I try, there will always be this other guy who has more power over her than anyone else ever could. It's not just about seeing them together, it's about understanding the hold he still has on her mind and heart.
