Wife's Last Surprise Before Leaving Me

So here I am, feeling like I should be writing this confession in some kind of poetic language or something. But nah, let’s keep it real and straightforward, though maybe not as graphic as it could be if I were feeling particularly saucy today. I'm a software engineer, been at the same job for over 5 years now. Everything seemed fine between my wife and me until last year when she started working long hours too and we began drifting apart. Communication became strained; arguments happened more often than not. I tried to work things out but sometimes it felt like every effort was in vain. We eventually decided on a separation, both of us agreeing it’s for the best. The night before she moved out, something unexpected happened though. We were packing up some last-minute boxes when suddenly her demeanor changed. It was clear that something was about to happen. And then it did. She surprised me by asking if I wanted to 'celebrate' everything we had together while it was still technically our marriage. I’ll admit, my first reaction was shock and a little confusion, but after some hesitation, I agreed. What followed wasn't exactly romantic or passionate in the traditional sense, rather, it felt more like one last hurrah between two people trying to be respectful of their past while facing an uncertain future. It's funny now to think back on that night as I process everything we had and where things stand now. Anyway, here’s to weird last chapters sometimes written in our lives, right? #nostalgia
