A Small Lie at Work

I work as a barista in a bustling cafe downtown. One day, I overheard another barista complaining about how they forgot to put cream in someone's coffee. Knowing it would irritate them even more if the manager found out, I told her that I had done it and left out the fact that I had already given her a heads-up earlier. She was grateful and relieved, but as much as I am for being honest, this little fib felt good at the time. It's not my best trait, but it sure kept the peace.
