An Open Marriage in Uniform

Being a military spouse and part of an open relationship has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. My husband is deployed more often than not these days, but our arrangement allows me to explore my desires with trusted partners while he’s away. One particular night, I met a fellow soldier who understood the unique dynamics we face in this lifestyle. We had dinner and shared stories about life on base and off. As the evening progressed, it became clear that both of us were interested in exploring something deeper together. The next day, when my husband called to check in from overseas, I was able to tell him honestly how much I’d enjoyed meeting someone new and engaging with them intellectually and sexually. He’s supportive of our relationship structure, which makes me feel incredibly secure and free to enjoy myself without guilt or shame. It’s liberating to be so open about something that works for us.
