Another Anniversary Night

So last night was another one of those 'special' anniversary dinners we had planned. Came home early to find the house dark and quiet, my spouse already upstairs in bed with a book. Figured she'd be ready for something different, you know? But nope, after that candlelit meal, I get the usual polite brush-off when I suggest anything more than cuddling. 'Not tonight,' is all she says, then promptly falls asleep. Another year of marriage passes with me still waiting to feel like it's not just some routine chore. Maybe I'm asking too much for something a little unexpected every once in a while? Must be.
