Training Beyond Limits

I never thought my kink would be so specific that it leaves me feeling like an outsider even in our private world. My partner and I have a great relationship, but he doesn't share my fascination with the idea of being restrained during workouts, yes, you read that right. The physical exertion coupled with a sense of helplessness, knowing I can rely on him to keep me safe while pushing me to my limits in ways I wouldn't dare attempt alone... It's exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. Tonight was different though; he noticed something wrong when I couldn’t stop thinking about it. We sat down, and as much as I wanted to be direct, finding the words felt like climbing a mountain. When we eventually started, the usual euphoria didn't come easily, it's hard to feel that way while you're fighting back tears because your partner can’t understand or join you. Afterwards, in our bed, he wrapped his arms around me but I could tell by the look on his face that there’s a gap. He means well, but we can’t bridge this divide without either of us changing. The physical side of my kink hasn't left much room for compromise. So here's what it comes down to: how do I keep being true to myself while staying connected with someone who doesn't see the world through the same lens? Is there a way to find middle ground, or is this something that only works alone?
