it was right after i broke up with sam and everything felt so empty. one night, i got a call from my student, ella. she's twenty-two, but we're on a first name basis and have been close since her freshman year. anyway, she sounded upset and i went to check on her. turns out, she had just broken up with her bf and was drowning in wine at the dorm. next thing you know, we ended up comforting each other, then holding hands, then... well, it got a lot more intimate than that. the way she looked at me, the way i responded to her touch, it felt like everything that had been missing since sam left came back tenfold. we both knew it was wrong and wouldn't last, but in that moment, it didn't matter.
