Caught in the Act Twice in One Night

So here's a thing that happened last week that I still can't believe. Normally I don't get too worked up over anything, but this had me questioning my whole approach to casual dating and sex. I'm thirty-five now, no wife or kids, and I've always been okay with just keeping things casual until I find the right person. So when a friend set me up with someone she thought was a good match for me last week, I didn't have any preconceived notions, just wanted to have a good time. We hit it off from the start; both of us are into kinks and role-playing, which I wasn't expecting but appreciated. We decided early on in our date that we'd move things along pretty quickly if both were interested, and well...it got steamy really fast. Before I knew it, we were at my place, fooling around, and when she left about an hour later, the mood was still riding high. As I was putting myself back together to go out for drinks with some friends, there's a knock on the door. Another friend of mine had been staying nearby and dropped by without warning, she was drunk off her ass from a party, laughing and saying she couldn't believe she showed up at my place that night. To make matters even more awkward, it turned out we'd also exchanged numbers earlier that evening for potential hook-ups later. So now there's me with two women in close proximity, each one thinking I was exclusively into her...with all the physical evidence (or lack thereof) from a few hours before. I ended up staying home and trying to smooth things over with texts and calls, but it felt like this whole night had spiraled out of control. It's just another reminder that even in our more liberal sexual circles, everyone still takes these situations seriously, especially when they involve someone catching you 'in the act' whether actually happening or not. So here I am, feeling a bit sheepish but mostly amused by how quickly things can get complicated, especially when your intentions are clear from the start. But hey, maybe it's time to rethink those casual hook-ups and take things slower? What do you guys think?
