Bartender's Dull Night

Last night at work was just another slow shift until the regulars started showing up around ten. I usually stick to my bartending duties but got into a conversation with a new face who was alone for his first time in. We bonded over our mutual disdain for small talk and how we both loved quiet nights out where you can observe without needing to engage much. He ended up asking me home, it wasn't the first time something like that happened on my rounds but still not really what I'd call a typical night either. It was almost mechanical, just another way of getting through until closing time, but different since it involved someone new and real outside work boundaries for once. Kinda weird to think about, most of us have our habits or routines, and this was a deviation from mine that felt oddly mundane at the same time.
