..Late Night Revelations at the Bar..

So...I just got divorced last month, you know? It hit me harder than I thought it would. Every night here at the bar feels like a repeat of the days that followed. You'd think people wouldn't drink as much around Christmas but they do, maybe more because there's something in the air, right? Anyway...tonight this regular guy comes in and he's usually quiet, just drinks his whiskey and leaves. But tonight? He tells me he knows I'm going through a rough time...and that really hit home for some reason. So we end up talking...a lot. Not about work or the weather but...how we're feeling. And it goes further than words. His hand finds mine under the bar, squeezing tight while he tells me how he wishes things could be different right now. It's a strange comfort knowing someone gets it... Before I know it...we're in the back office. Not much else to say at that point. Clothes start coming off...in an odd blur of emotions and touch. No rush, no hurry. Just two people trying to find some kind of solace in each other's arms. The next morning hits like a freight train though. Remorse. Sadness. But also something else - gratitude for the night before. It's confusing, this mix of feelings, but it felt...right somehow, you know? Not perfect or anything...just real.
