professor's secret

so last week i had a student who was super smart and really got into the class discussion. we ended up talking after class for like an hour one day, just casually chatting about everything from philosophy to pop culture. i don't know what came over me but it felt almost... intimate? like i was really connecting with this kid intellectually and emotionally. of course she's way too young, only in her twenties and a full decade younger than me. still though, there was something about that conversation that made my heart race for days afterward. anyone ever have these weird teacher-student connections before? am i the only one who feels this kind of pull even when it's totally inappropriate?
