Working Out My Issues At The Gym

I’m a personal trainer at a local gym, and I’ve been struggling with something that’s not exactly related to fitness. Ever since my last serious relationship ended about six months ago, I’ve felt lost and lonely. I try to keep it professional when I’m here, but sometimes the loneliness creeps in during late-night shifts when most of the clients are gone. One night, while cleaning up after a workout session, I met this woman who looked like she was going through similar struggles. We talked about our breakups and how we were both trying to find ourselves again. There was an instant connection between us, but it never escalated into anything more than friendly chats. A few weeks later, when the loneliness hit me particularly hard after a grueling session with some of my clients, I found myself thinking about her constantly. That’s when I made a bold move and asked her out for drinks. To my surprise, she said yes. We ended up having a great time catching up on life and discussing our dreams separately from the heartbreak we’ve both experienced. It wasn’t just a casual date, it felt like something meaningful was growing between us. But as soon as the night wore off, reality set in. She’s married to someone else, and I’m single with no intentions of looking for anything serious right now. We haven’t seen each other since that night, but I can’t help thinking about what could have been if our circumstances were different.
