A Lesson Beyond Academia

I met him when he was one of my students, a bright young man who caught my attention. We both knew it was inappropriate but there was an undeniable chemistry. It ended before anyone got hurt and we maintained professional distance thereafter. Years later, now in my forties, I find myself with a partner and happy life. Yet sometimes, when the moon is full and the stars align just right, I still think about that student, how our shared secret set us apart from others.
