Boss's Birthday Surprise

So I'm this retail worker chick, and I've been working at a store near my house for about six months now. The boss is this really nice guy in his forties, married with kids, but he's got such an air of authority that you can't help but feel a bit attracted to him when he walks into the room. Last week was his birthday, and since we were closing down early, I decided to give him something special. I waited until everyone else had left before heading to my locker where I stashed a little gift for him, a box of his favorite chocolate candies wrapped in festive paper with a playful note on top. As I walked back towards the front counter, he was standing there waiting near his office door. The look on his face when I handed over the present was priceless! He thanked me warmly and we chatted about random stuff for a bit. But then I asked him if he needed help with anything last minute before leaving. As fate would have it, he mentioned he still had to go through some papers in his office but didn't feel like staying later just yet. That's when the giddy moment happened, I said sure, why don't you sit back while I bring those chocolates inside and sort them out for you? He seemed genuinely surprised but grateful as we walked into his private space. Sitting there on that comfortable chair, him looking over documents while me pouring chocolate into a bowl to eat later… it felt almost like an intimate moment between two adults who had something special happen despite being in such an unusual setting. We both chuckled nervously about it but didn't say more, just enjoyed the quiet connection as he wrapped up work quickly after that. Afterward, he thanked me again and offered to walk me home which I declined (though it was tempting), instead wishing him a happy birthday once more before heading out with a lingering smile. That day really stuck out in my mind, not because of anything scandalous or romantic… but simply for those few minutes where our professional relationship felt just a tiny bit personal and playful.
